Classical Ballet at Lully MAC Ballet School
Ballet 100 (years 5 through 8)
The first steps in ballet concentrate on correct body placement. The student will learn proper alignment, the five positions of the feet, and be introduced to basic barre exercises. It is important that these early years are dedicated to slow repetition and mastery of the fundamental concepts. Students will also study ballet stories like Swan Lake and Coppelia.
Ballet 200 (years 8 through 11)
These years are dedicated to the preparation for advanced ballet techniques. Students will now learn the basic body positions. They will strengthen and stretch their bodies. Students will use the fundamentals they mastered in Ballet 100 to perform more challenging ballet techniques such as developpe' and saute'. Musicality is emphasized. Students must demonstrate a proficient knowledge of ballet vocabulary before moving to the next level.
Ballet 300 (years 11 through 14)
Students will use knowledge and skills mastered in Ballet 100 and 200 to help them learn variations and complex combinations of ballet steps. Students may begin pointe work at age 12. Beginning pointe classes will consist of basic strengthening and balancing exercises.
Ballet 400 (years 14 and above)
At this level students will concentrate on the virtuosity and execution of the dance.
